Our Birthday Month!

I never had a problem sharing my birthdays growing up. My Birthday landed on August 3rd and my best friend Julie's is on August 4th so we always had joint birthday parties at the beach and I loved it. Now that I am married James adds to the party line by coming after on August 5th. Its too perfect to be a coincidence...me followed by my two best friends. As Albert says,

Since it was James and I's first Birthdays together being married and all we wanted it to be memorable.  James, the suave man he is, decided to surprise me with tickets to Jack Johnson's concert...my favorite native hawaiian singer!!! I'm lucky because this was my second time seeing Jack live but this time I got to be a lot closer to the stage since it was a smaller amphitheater. He is good when i t comes to spontaneous surprises. Here are some pictures of the evening:

And for his Birthday I made him his favorite lemon cake and made a "26 reasons to Kiss James". I ordered a shaving bowl for him and a stand for his razor and brush. He shaves like a real man. I am so lucky to have him by my side everyday. Marriage is the best!

It's been too long!

ALOHA all!! These past two months have been pretty crazy, a good and busy kind of crazy. James and I just thought it would be a good idea to post something in case someone thought we had gone off the edge of the planet or something.... NEWS ALERT: We are still on the island of Oahu and thriving for those of you who wanted to know.

In other great news, my sister Court and her husband Dave and little Sally came to visit us (and Luke, Kari, and Simon) a couple weeks ago. It was just splendid! Our week with the Facer crew consisted of surf trips, snorkeling, many many Acai bowls, beach trips of course, Sally time (my favorite), and shaved ice :P It was great to be with family once again, they just bring a special kind of love and warmth with them all the way across the Pacific Ocean. I have the best family I could of asked for.

Here are some pictures with the Facer Family:

The only family photo we got. Thankfully our friend at North Shore Bowls snapped one for us!

My little SALPAL!

What? Why you lookin at me? I didn't do it...

Just monkeying around. You know us.

Her new Favorite blue Crush turtle!

 5 seconds later...

Can't wait to see them all again soon. One of the best weeks we have had here in Hawaii! Stay small little Sally, never grow up as T-swizzle would say. Many kisses and Aloha always coming your way from Aunty Shannon.

Adventures

We have been on a couple of adventures here in Hawaii, because they are pretty hard to find here. We went to the Social Security Office in Honolulu to change Shannon's last name to Bass. I was thinking that it was going to take a good part of the day to wait around because that how it seems to go at government agencies like that.  To our great surprise we got in and out of there in 20 minutes! When we were going back to the car we found someone that is kind of a big deal.
King Kamehameha uniting all the people. You may recognize this if you have watched Hawaii 5-0.
Shannon being a poser.

We also went to the Dole Plantation. We went on this train tour that goes around the plantation and is narrated, it was cool and I would recommend it. I got the Kama'aina discount because I now have a Hawaiian drivers license. Then we got some pineapple ice cream, the best ice cream ever. We will go back just to stop of at the shop and get the ice cream.

So they grow out of the top, weird huh! And it takes like 18 months for the fruit to be able to harvest and each plant will go through a cycle and be able to produce 3 crops before they cannot produce anymore pineapples.

My New Swimming Buddy

I know this is a surprise to many out there but, we do live on an island surrounded by water.  My favorite activity here on the island is to go snorkeling.  Shannon and I went out together on President's Day and then I went out again the next day while Shannon has a pretty late lab.  It had rained a little and luckily I got some sunshine but the water was a little cloudier than normal.  I was able to get some good pictures and a surprise.
I love these little puffer fish.

There a sea urchins like this all over and it is cool to see their color stick out from the sand and rock.

There was a school of 5-6 of the fish, I wish I had gotten a better picture.

The first time I had seen a sea turtle .  He was just munching on some coral for food and didn't mind that I was there.

Reception (aka Party Time!)

Here are some pictures of the reception party.  There are so many of people that helped  make it look so wonderful  and we want to thank all of you that helped and that could come and celebrate with us.
The sign in table.

He got a little tired.

Shannon and I with my other mom, Norma.

If it doesn't get all over the place, it doesn't belong in your face, or on it.

Finally a chance to sit down.
They sang a beautiful song for us.

Proof that I did dance.

This picture of my brother Robert just makes me laugh for some reason.

The escape!
